SHEA STADIUM

Shea Stadium is the home of Major League Baseball's New York Mets. The Stadium is located in the borough of queens, in the City of New York. Shea Stadium opened on April !7,1964 and closed on September 28,2008. The Stadium has hosted events from baseball, football(Jets home games), soccer, and musical concerts(The Beatles). A new Stadium called Citi Field will replace Shea Stadium, it was built ajacent to the now demolished Shea Stadium.

SOME NOTABLE EVENTS

1. April 17, 1964: First game at Shea Stadium, the Mets lose to a Pittsburgh Pirates team that was led by Roberto Clemente 4-3.
2. July 1964: All Star game.
3.August 1965, 1966: Beattles concert.
4. December 29, 1968: New York Jets win AFL title beating the Oakland Raiders.
5. December 16, 1973: Oj Simpson becomes first player in NFL to rush for over 2000 yards in a season.
6. 1974, 1975: New York Yankees played their home games at Shea Stadium during renovations at Yankee Stadium.
7. October 25, 1986: Bill Buckner's error wins game six of World Series for the Mets.
8. September 28, 2008: Final game at Shea Stadium.
9. 1969, 1973, 1986, 2000: World Series.
